Waiting all-around (1/29/2020)

Tomorrow, we will be told to wait, to wait for the promise of the Father. 

And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Acts 1:4-5 English Standard Version (ESV)

The word perimenó is only used here. It has two parts -- the command "wait" and the adverb "all-around".  A watchman looks in a direction.  They man a station of the wall and scan the horizon for danger.  

But they were being told to wait while being surrounded.  Cowering in a locked room, they would receive the promise of the Father and the world would never be the same.
