testify

This week we begin worship with:

And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

Peter is explaining that the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ gave them a command to "testify" (diamartyromai).  Yes, attempt to read that big Greek word and hear the word "martyr" in it!

They were to testify to that Jesus "is the one appointed by God".

“Jesus” (iēsous) means “God Saves”.  That name is our testimony.
